Let me tell you what really gets under my skin: being told that something can’t be done—especially when the ones doing the telling are the same people who never even tried in the first place.

This week, former Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen called an American manufacturing renaissance a “pipe dream” during a live CNBC interview. Dismissing President Trump’s tariff-driven push to bring production back to U.S. soil, Yellen argued that such a goal wasn’t even “desirable.” Her words, set against a backdrop of economic uncertainty, seemed to echo the skepticism of economists who’ve long warned that global supply chains and high costs make reshoring unfeasible.
